How do I exchange my order?

For All Other Exchanges, please read below.

All exchanges must be initiated within 5 days of delivery of order. Exchanges will not be allowed after 5 days.

If your item is eligible for exchange, send an email to orders@thecostumekitty.comBe sure to include your order # in the email body for faster turn around along with a brief description of the reason you are exchanging the item.

Once we receive your request, we will send you a pre-paid USPS shipping label. Place the merchandise in a appropriate box or padded envelop and affix the shipping label. Then drop the exchange off at an approved USPS Priority mail shipping center. 

Once we receive your exchange, we will ship out the replacement item within 1 business day and provide you with a tracking number. Exchanges ship at the standard shipping speed.

Exchanges During Halloween Season Including Purr-fect Fit Guarantee merchandise (October 15th - November 2nd)

Any merchandise exchanges on eligible items/orders delivered between October 15th and November 2nd may be subject to a 50% restocking fee as well as normal shipping and return fees. Purr-fect Fit Guarantee is not valid during this time due to increased order volume and limited availability of merchandise. 


 How Much Does an Exchange Cost

Exchanges for all items that fall outside the Purr-Fect Fit Guarantee will be charged an exchange fee of $15, which covers the cost of round trip shipping exchange shipping.


How long does it take to exchange an order?

The average exchanged order can take 1-2 weeks based on shipping times. If you require faster processing of an exchange, please inform us via email. We can provide UPS 3 Day, UPS 2 Day, and UPS Next Day Saver service for an extra cost.


How long do I have to exchange an order?

Items that have been processed for an exchange MUST be received by our warehouse within 14 days of receipt of return shipping label. Items that are received by our warehouse after 14 days may be subject to an additional 30% restocking fee.




What Items are Eligible for an Exchange?

  • Costumes must be unworn and in their original packaging and resealable condition.
    • Costumes that are taken out of their original packaging and tried on for size are considered new and are eligible for an exchange.
    • Costumes that are worn outside of the initial sizing check are not eligible for an exchange.
    • Accessories like hair pieces (wigs, mustaches, beards, eyebrow attachments) must be sealed in their original packaging where applicable.
    • Undergarments that come with costumes must be unopened in their original accessory packaging where applicable. 
    • We cannot accept costume exchanges where the undergarment(s) has/have been taken out of its/their original packaging. For sanitary and health reasons, there is no exception.
  • Eyelashes in a new and unopened condition
  • Cosmetics in a new and unopened condition
  • Prosthetic appliances in a new and unopened condition
  • Artificial teeth in a new and unopened condition
  • Accessories in a new/unused condition in original packaging

What Items are Not Eligible for an Exchange?

For sanitary and health reasons, we cannot accept exchanges on the following items:

  • Wigs
  • Hair accessories (mustaches, beards, and extensions with their packages opened)
  • Eyelashes (with its package opened)
  • Cosmetics (with its package opened)
  • Prosthetic Appliances (ears, noses, chins, scars with their packages opened)
  • Artificial teeth (with its package opened)
  • Undergarments
  • Pet Costumes
  • Collectibles
